I hate to be critical, but if this was real "old school", Mario would be stuck on a 2d plane.Other than that, I really appreciate Mario's look.
Well, the idea was to be as faithful as possible to the original graphics (Mario's pose is even the same, with his head pointing to the side and his body facing forwards) while adding enough three-dimensionality to make it feel new.
